Returns Policy

At Exotic Hardwoods UK Ltd, we take pride in the quality and character of our products. However, if you need to return an item, please read the policy below.

Before returning any item, you must notify us in advance by:

4. Return Shipping

  • If the item is faulty or incorrect, we will reimburse postage costs.
  • If a customer no longer wants the item and wishes to return it, the return must be made at the customer’s own cost. Return postage costs are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed in advance by Exotic Hardwoods UK Ltd.

5. Refunds

Refunds will be issued to the original payment method within 7 days of receiving the returned goods in suitable condition.

Important Information About Our Timber

At Exotic Hardwoods UK Ltd, we supply timber in its natural state, which may include variations in grain, colour, and texture. These characteristics are part of the material’s authenticity and beauty.

1. Air-Dried & Kiln-Dried Timber

  • Our stock may include both:
    • Air-dried timber (approx. 18–25% moisture content)
    • Kiln-dried timber (approx. 8–14% moisture content)
  • The drying method will depend on species and intended use. Please contact us if you require specific drying standards.

2. Storage & Handling

To maintain the integrity of your timber, please follow these guidelines:

  • Store in a cool, shaded, and dry location
  • Avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat, which can cause warping or cracking
  • Allow timber to acclimate gradually to the environment where it will be used
  • Keep flat and off damp floors to reduce the risk of distortion

3. Natural Movement & Cracking

Wood is a natural material, and some movement (such as shrinkage, expansion, or surface checking) may occur as it adjusts to new environments. This is not considered a defect and does not qualify for return unless otherwise agreed.

You can tell us that you wish to return an unwanted item up to 14 days from the day it was delivered, after 14 days it would be at our discretion.

We would need to receive the wood in an unused and saleable condition and within the 14 days of you telling us that you are returning it.

The cost of sending the wood back to us is non-refundable unless agreed by Exotic Hardwoods UK Ltd.

If the wood was faulty then we would do our best to refund the postage costs. 

We will refund to your credit card or the original method of payment within 7 days of the arrival of the wood with us in the condition as stated above.
