Ipe wood, also known as Brazilian Walnut or by its scientific name Handroanthus spp., is an exceptional hardwood native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, particularly Brazil. Renowned for its incredible strength, density, and durability, Ipe wood is one of the hardest woods available, with a rich color palette that ranges from olive-brown to dark brown, often with attractive darker streaks. Its fine to medium texture and interlocking grain make it both visually appealing and extremely resilient.

Ipe wood is widely used in applications that require both beauty and robustness. Its natural resistance to rot, decay, and insect attacks makes it an ideal choice for exterior projects such as decking, siding, and outdoor furniture. Its impressive hardness and density also ensure exceptional longevity and performance, even in harsh weather conditions. Additionally, Ipe is used for high-end interior flooring, cabinetry, and joinery, where its rich colour and natural lustre can be showcased. The wood’s remarkable durability also makes it a preferred material for heavy-duty applications like boardwalks and bridges.
