Japanese Tochi (Aesculus turbinata), also known as Japanese Horse Chestnut, is a distinctive hardwood native to Japan. Recognised for its pale, creamy-white to light golden-brown colour and fine, even texture, this wood is highly valued for its workability and smooth finish. It is relatively lightweight compared to other hardwoods, making it ideal for applications that require both strength and ease of handling.

Japanese Tochi is widely used in fine furniture making, cabinetry, and decorative veneers, where its subtle grain patterns add elegance and refinement. It is also a favoured material in traditional Japanese craftsmanship, including musical instruments, turned objects, and intricate carvings. The wood’s stability and ability to take a beautiful finish make it an excellent choice for bespoke joinery and interior design applications.

Exotic Hardwoods UK Ltd, a leading supplier of premium and exotic hardwoods, proudly offers Japanese Tochi as part of its exclusive collection. The company is dedicated to sourcing the highest quality materials responsibly, ensuring sustainable harvesting while maintaining superior standards.
