Whether you are just approaching the world of woodworking or are looking to level up your skills, becoming more familiar with hardwoods can truly elevate your skills and projects. Hardwoods are a fantastic resource to bring to life creations that are not only beautifully crafted and aesthetically appealing, but also durable and timeless.
In this guide by the experts at Exotic Hardwoods, we’ll explore what defines hardwoods, their unique qualities, and how to use them for your next project.
Hardwood has been widely used as flooring, furniture and interior decorating for years; however, there remains much confusion as to what trees do hardwoods come from.
Hardwood timber comes from angiosperm trees, which are flowering plants that produce seeds encased by fruit or nuts, and typically have broad-leafed foliage.
Every great instrument begins with a simple idea and a piece of wood. Before the shaping, sanding and finishing, it’s the timber that sets the tone for everything that follows. Whether you’re crafting a custom guitar, restoring a treasured instrument or starting your very first build, the wood you choose forms the heart of the process.
At Exotic Hardwoods UK, we’re proud to supply some of the rarest and most extraordinary timbers found anywhere in the world. From rich African Ebony and shimmering Ziricote to beautifully patterned Olivewood and Purpleheart, our collection celebrates the natural beauty of wood in all its forms. Every piece tells a story, but some stories reach back further than we can imagine. One of those stories begins deep beneath the ground in the ancient swamps of New Zealand.
