    Amazaque 1″ x 1″ x 12″ kiln dried

    £3.30

    Description

Amazaque (Guibourtia ehie), also known as Ovangkol or Shedua, is a premium hardwood native to tropical West Africa, particularly in countries like Cameroon, Ghana, and Nigeria. It is celebrated for its varying shades of yellowish to reddish-brown heartwood, often featuring darker brown, gray, or black stripes. The grain is typically straight to slightly interlocked, but can also exhibit beautiful variations such as curly or mottled figuring, and the wood’s medium to coarse texture contributes to its moderate natural luster.

Renowned for its workability, Amazaque is relatively easy to machine, although it contains silica which can dull cutters prematurely. It is a favorite for woodworking applications such as furniture, cabinetry, veneers, and musical instruments. The wood polishes to a smooth, elegant finish, enhancing its rich, contrasting appearance.

Amazaque offers good dimensional stability, impact resistance, and moderate durability. Its robust nature ensures longevity in various applications, making it a staple among artisans. The wood is known for its natural resistance to insect attacks, further adding to its appeal.

Sustainable forestry practices help maintain its availability for future generations. Its timeless beauty, reliability, and versatility make Amazaque a favorite among craftsmen and manufacturers alike.
