Kiatt / Mũkwa (Pterocarpus angolensis)
Kiatt, also known as Mũkwa or African Teak, is a highly valued hardwood native to southern Africa. Its heartwood ranges from warm golden-brown to deep reddish tones, often accentuated by beautiful ribbon or wavy grain patterns. Over time, the colour deepens, enhancing its rich, natural character.
This timber is moderately dense, stable, and easy to work with, taking a fine polish that reveals its smooth texture and lustrous finish. It is widely used for fine furniture, cabinetry, musical instruments, and turned objects.
⚠️ Note: As a naturally grown hardwood, pieces may contain small cracks, knots, or variations in grain and colour — all of which contribute to its unique and authentic appearance.
