Mopane (Colophospermum mopane) is a dense, hard and highly durable African hardwood, known for its rich reddish-brown to dark brown colouring and attractive contrasting grain. It machines and finishes well and is an excellent choice for woodturning, knife handles, boxes, furniture, small specialist projects and other fine woodworking applications. As a natural timber, variations in colour, grain and figure are to be expected, and small cracks, checks, holes or other natural imperfections may occasionally be present.
