Newtonia (Newtonia spp.)
Newtonia is a lesser-known African hardwood valued for its strength, density, and durability. The heartwood varies from medium to dark reddish-brown, sometimes with purplish undertones, while the grain is generally straight to slightly interlocked with a fine, even texture.
Tough and resilient, Newtonia is used in flooring, furniture, heavy construction, and turnery. It takes a smooth finish and is naturally resistant to wear and decay, making it well-suited for demanding applications.
