Description
Pau Roxo (Peltogyne spp.)
Pau Roxo is a striking tropical hardwood native to Central and South America. Freshly cut, the heartwood appears a dull brown but soon transforms to a vivid purple upon exposure to light, later maturing into a deep violet-brown with age. The grain is generally straight, though it may be wavy or irregular, with a fine to medium texture and natural sheen.
Extremely dense and durable, Pau Roxo is valued for its strength, longevity, and bold colouration, making it ideal for furniture, flooring, veneers, turnery, and decorative applications. Though its hardness can make working more demanding, it finishes beautifully, taking on a smooth, polished surface that highlights its distinctive hue.
⚠️ Note: Being a natural exotic timber, Pau Roxo may display minor surface checks, irregular grain, or colour variation, which contribute to its unique character.
