Raspberry Jam Wood (Acacia acuminata), an Australian native also known as Raspberry Jam Wattle, earns its unusual name from the sweet, fruity scent it gives off when freshly cut—reminiscent of raspberry jam. This dense, durable hardwood typically showcases rich reddish-brown to deep burgundy hues, often accented with dark streaks and a fine, even grain that polishes to a lustrous finish.
Highly valued for its strength, density, and stability, Raspberry Jam Wood is well-suited for turning, carving, tool handles, knife scales, and decorative inlays. Its tight grain and natural beauty make it a favourite among woodturners and fine woodworkers seeking distinctive character and resilience.
Due to its natural growth and density, some minor surface checks or cracks may be present, particularly in thicker or irregular sections. Its aromatic quality, striking colouration, and durability set Raspberry Jam Wood apart as a unique and prized hardwood for both functional and artistic applications.
