Description

Wenge – Lumber

Description:
Wenge is a striking African hardwood, valued for its bold appearance, exceptional strength, and durability. Its dark brown to near-black heartwood, contrasted by lighter streaks, gives it a distinctive and contemporary look. Highly robust and stable, Wenge is well suited to both structural and decorative woodworking applications.

Features:

  • Species: Wenge (Millettia laurentii)
  • Appearance: Dark brown to almost black with contrasting lighter grain lines
  • Texture: Coarse, open grain with a naturally textured feel
  • Workability: Dense and hard; best worked with sharp tools, may splinter; finishes to a rich, deep tone

Applications:
Ideal for furniture making, cabinetry, flooring, joinery, and larger woodworking projects where strength and visual impact are required.

Note:
Due to its open grain, filling may be required to achieve a smooth finish. As a natural timber, variations in colour and grain are to be expected. Small checks or minor cracks may occasionally be present. Photographs are representative of typical appearance.
